Change is inevitable, especially in the world of business. As the seasons shift, so too must our strategies and focuses. At Jewels and Jems Furniture and Interior Redesigns, I’ve always prided myself on my ability to adapt and grow, and the coming months will be no exception. From embracing e-commerce to nurturing new talents within our team, exciting transformations are on the horizon.
In recent months, I’ve made the conscious decision to step back from the hands-on refinishing work, entrusting Gracie with more responsibilities in the workshop. It’s been a rewarding experience watching her flourish and take on new challenges. With a surplus of furniture since the New Year, it was the perfect time to delegate and focus on broader business development initiatives.
I have been quite occupied the last few months, attending virtual conferences and workshops- even writing my first book. While juggling my business responsibilities, I have also been managing my personal commitments, like attending all my son’s activities and events, and recently, taking a trip to the Caribbean for a post 40th birthday celebration. This busy schedule has been hectic yet rewarding and it has given me a fresh perspective on the next steps for Jewels and Jems Furniture and Interior Redesigns.
One significant change on the horizon is our shift towards a more e-commerce-centered retail model. With news of the city’s revitalization project, it’s clear that embracing digital platforms is the way forward for us. This transition opens doors to a wider audience and allows us to showcase our unique designs to customers far beyond just our local community. As we move deeper into the online space, the blog will undergo expansion, becoming a hub for design inspiration, DIY tutorials, and behind-the-scenes glimpses into our creative process. Additionally, there will be a greater emphasis on digital products, offering customers a variety of ways to bring style into their homes.

Change often brings transitions to a team. In our case, Michelle will be returning to her full-time position at Mainprize Park for the summer months, which will reduce her time in the shop. Additionally, Gracie is set to graduate in June and embark on her journey to college. These changes require adjustments in workflow and responsibilities, but they also offer opportunities for personal growth and learning.
I am excited to share that I have recently launched my own children’s book! On top of that, I have received an offer to explore a new area of design. I will share more details about that soon! I believe in pursuing multiple passions, why limit ourselves to just one? Although I have found refinishing furniture and kitchens to be deeply satisfying, it has also been physically and mentally demanding.

Embracing change isn’t always easy, but it’s essential for progress and evolution. It’s about recognizing when to let go of the familiar and embrace the unknown, trusting in our ability to adapt and thrive in new landscapes. As we navigate this transition, one thing remains constant: our commitment to quality craftsmanship, innovative design, and exceptional customer experiences.
To our loyal customers and supporters, we extend our deepest gratitude for joining us on this journey. Your continued enthusiasm fuels our passion and propels us forward into this exciting new chapter. Together, we’ll redefine what it means to create beautiful spaces that inspire and delight. Together, let’s embark on this adventure and see where it takes us. The best is yet to come for Jewels and Jem’s Furniture and Interior Redesigns.
