If you are eager to infuse as much of Barbie’s signature hue into your home, I have put together a little guide to achieve the perfect Barbiecore decor. The rise of “Barbiecore decor” includes an ultra-pink aesthetic. Here’s everything you need to know about the most popular trend of the summer and how to get the look in your home.
Barbiecore- the ultimate pink aesthetic
The pink aesthetic is not for everyone, myself included, but it is fun and brings back the nostalgia of playing with my Barbie collection as a kid. While I am not a fan of pink in general, and I don’t consider myself a “girlie girl,” I have many memories of playing with Barbies as a kid. I would spend hours dressing them up, doing their hair, cutting and adding colours to their hair. One of my favourite Barbies was the Totally Hair Barbie! I also had a custom Barbie Dreamhouse my dad built for me one year. I had all the tiny furniture, carpet, and wallpaper- maybe that’s where my start in interior design began, haha!

The Original Barbiecore Dreamhouse
Today’s modern ultra-feminine Barbiecore trend embraces pink of every shade, from hot pink to softer shades of rose. Did you know mid-century modern is the original Barbiecore? The original Barbie Dreamhouse was a white and yellow mid-century modern home that aligned with the design trends in the early 60s.

Pink Paint Shortage??
Have you heard about the global shortage of pink paint the production of the Barbie Movie has caused? True Fact! The Barbie production team from the Barbie movie used the shade Fluorescent Pink by Rosco to make Barbie’s world come to life. The company was already in a pinch due to shortages from Covid 19 and a storm that hit Texas in 2021, damaging essential materials that make up the ingredients in the paint.

Bring Barbiecore to your home
If you want to lean into the Barbiecore design trend, you can achieve the exact retro pink aesthetic with the Pantone colour Barbie Pink, hex code #e0218a. Try adding bright pops of pink to your home, like throw pillows or a blanket. A piece of artwork that throws out shades of pink or even a simple pink candle or picture frame. Textures like soft faux furs, shiny vinyl, glitter bedcovers (think Barbies bed in the movie) and luxurious velvet. It all comes together for the ultimate dreamy monochromatic look.

I have partnered with the Orpheum Theatre in a Barbie VIP Experience. Two lucky winners will receive a prize package of 3 tickets to the movie opening on July 21, a concession package and a Barbie!!
